Hertz processors

Hertz processors arecapable of interfacing with any analogand/or digital source,

transforming ordinary “audio” into a high-performance integrated system.

HIGH PERFORMANCE
OEM INTEGRATION

THE ‘HERTZ SOUND EXPERIENCE’ IS NOW DIGITAL!

HERTZ H8 DSP IS CAPABLE OF INTERFACING WITH ANY ANALOG AND/OR DIGITAL SOURCE, TRANSFORMING ORDINARY “AUDIO” INTO A HIGH-PERFORMANCE INTEGRATED SYSTEM.

Analog inputs

Thanks to the built-in USS technology (Universal Speakers Simulator), H8 DSP can also be correctly connected to head-units with “speaker load detection” function that monitors the presence of a

low-impedance load to enable the audio outputs.

ANALOG AND DIGITAL INPUTS

H8 DSP provides 3 different connection typologies: four high-level analog inputs, also accepting low-level pre-amplified signals; a stereo auxiliary analog input and an optical digital input accepting signals at sample rates up to 96/24 bit. The optical digital input (selectable from the DRC HE and from the “Optical / AUX select” terminal) nullifies interferences and degradations of the signal found in traditional analog interconnects, also by-passing the A/D conversion phases of analog signals.

DE-EQUALIZATION

By reading the track on the provided CD, the configuration Wizard automatically sum the multiple filtered channels of the OEM source (for instance woofer plus tweeter) thus reconstructing a full-bandwidth signal. Then the software flatten the equalized response curve, providing a “full bandwidth” signal ready for further processing. H8 DSP can also reconstruct a centre, rear and/or subwoofer outputs with a simple stereo input. Thanks to the configuration Wizard provided by the software during the set-up, H8 DSP can automatically sum multiple filtered channels (for instance, woofer plus tweeter) and then “flatten” the equalized response curve of the OEM source.

By using the appropriate set of tracks on the provided test disc (CD), H8 DSP reconstructs a full-bandwidth stereo signal, flattening its frequency response thus providing the correct signal ready for further processing. It can also reconstruct a centre, rear and/or subwoofer outputs with a simple stereo input.

8 PRE OUT

The H8 DSP features 8 PRE OUT analog outputs each of them including: a 31 band equalizer, a 68 step electronic crossover,

Linkwitz-Riley or Butterworth filters with selectable 6 – 24 dB adjustable slopes and digital time delay functions.

DRC HE Digital Remote Control

The provided DRC HE enables the main system control without the use of a PC. Thanks to this device, installed in an ergonomic position within the car dashboard, the user

can: choose between two “tuning” configurations previously saved using the PC software; select the source from the master, auxiliary and optical digital inputs; adjust main

system functions (volume, balance, fader and subwoofer volume).

UCS – User Control Set

By configuring the UCS four position dip switch, simply receiving a signal from an external device, the selection of the Aux digital input and of the PC setup MEM A and MEM B

is enabled. For example the car seat belt sensor can be used to activate the processor MEM B setup, optimized for both passenger and driver.

H8 DSP Software

Developed according to specific ergonomics criteria required by the Car Audio industry, the PC software facilitates direct access to all the available functions for the signal treatment, providing immediate results, as well as extreme operational accuracy.

Setting the parameters of each input single channel, adjusting the delays according to the listening position, tuning the crossovers and equalizers for each output channel; these are just some of the operations that can be managed by the PC software based on Windows

platform (XP, Vista, 7,8, 10) to be used in Standard or Expert mode.

The Standard mode guarantees straightforward and simplified system management achieving great results with little effort: a guided set-up procedure, according to the parameters assigned to the outputs, assists the user in setting up the crossovers and equalization enabling the tuning of any system in just a few “clicks”.

With the Expert mode, the software provides the ability to freely access all the parameters for a totally customized tuning experience.

The software features a Context-sensitive Help, that the user can activate, opening a dynamic help window including detailed description of its main functions.

The PC software is available in English, Italian, German, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean. The user can select the language and the change will be applied to the drop-down menus as well as to the Context Help messages. The number of available languages will

increase: once updates are available, they will be downloadable from the bit Drive portal (bitDrive.it).

Powered by bit Drive technology

The H8 DSP firmware, based upon Flash memory, can be updated at any time without having to disassemble the device from the system: the software checks on the available

updates from the bit Drive portal (http://bitdrive.it) guiding the user through all of the upgrade phases.

Additionally, the user can manually force the update and proceed with a safe installation which can be retrieved even in case the update fails due to external accidental causes.

Connecting the H8 DSP to the Audison bit Tune, you can automatically calibrate the basic parameters of the processor (time alignment, equalization, levels, etc.), ensuring

an excellent level of acoustic performance. This phase also includes the diagnosis of common connection “errors” (channel inversion/phase, no signal on one channel/ cable,

etc.) to set the specialist free from “routine” work and allow him to focus on the art of “fine-tuning”.

SIGNAL PROCESSING

The H8 DSP features a 32 bit DSP and 24 bit A/D and D/A

converters ensuring top level performance, as well as a powerful

microcontroller to manage, supervise and connect the system to

the PC software. Following the conversion from analog to digital or

starting in the digital domain using the S/PDIF digital inputs, the

H8 DSP provides the ability to:

1. automatically reconstruct a linear full-bandwidth stereo signal;

2. de-equalize the frequency response, to “flatten” any equalization

applied by default by OEM sources. This operation can be initiated

through a simple push button switch found on the device, without

the need for a PC;

3. reconstruct the signal, in case the system requires a centre

channel or subwoofer when the corresponding signals are not

available as input channels;

The user can configure the system via PC software.

Each channel can:

1. be activated, de-activated or phase inverted;

2. be filtered with a Linkwitz or Butterworth crossover alignment,

with adjustable slopes (6- 24 dB/Oct.), from 20 to 20,000 Hz cutoff

frequencies, in Hi-Pass, Lo-Pass and separately configurable

slopes and frequencies on each side of a Band-Pass filter;

3. be contoured with 31 bands of 1/3 octave equalization,

+/- 12 dB range with 128 steps resolution;

4. be acoustically time aligned with the other channels with up

to 15 milliseconds delay, in 0.02 Ms steps, corresponding to a

510 cm virtual loudspeaker “movement”. The user can adjust the

initial delay settings by following a guided on-screen procedure

for a consistent reconstruction of the sound stage. A manual

adjustment function is available for the delay “fine-tuning”;

5. adjust its output level to further tune the system’s overall

response.
